Sultan Ahmet Camii (Blue Mosque). This mosque is still being used today. Viewed from the Sultanahmet Meydanı.
Inside the gate from the Sultanahmet Meydanı. Prayers had just been called so I came back another day.
The courtyard inside the exterior gate. Although not shown here, there are some free-standing buildings in this courtyard, for example, an elementary school. In the lowest section to the right of the first two pictures you can see the washing area. After checking permission I had a go.
Inside the main dome. This particular section was for tourists with another inside area set aside for prayer.
Some detail. The second is not a selfie.
I tried (unsuccessfully) to capture the blue colour pattern which gives this mosque its nick-name. The mosque is bluer. Very pretty indeed.
